faculty position in Communication beginning July 1, 2008
Description: Providence Christian
College seeks applications for a full-time position in
Communication. Candidates should have a completed doctorate in
communication or related discipline; Ph.D. candidates will be
considered. Specialty is open. Teaching experience is desirable.
Providence Christian College is a new
college that welcomed its first class entering in the fall of
2005. Candidates must be confessionally Reformed Christians who
are committed to excellence in teaching, professional
development and contributing to the community. Providence seeks
candidates who can articulate a Reformed perspective in the
context of Christian liberal arts education.
Responsibilities: Primary
responsibilities include teaching courses within the B.A. in
Communication program (which includes concentrations in film
studies, journalism, and general communication), and Speech
Communication in the Core. As part of the inaugural faculty, the
faculty member would also be expected to help shape the
direction of the departmental program.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation is based on the faculty salary schedule
commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include
health care, pension, life and long-term disability. Full-time
faculty may also be eligible for a reimbursement for relocation,
professional development allotment, K-12 Christian school
tuition assistance for dependent children, and mortgage
assistance.

Summary: Communication Arts Department seeks a new media
generalist to develop our established media production
concentration to include convergence models, critical
approaches, and narrative perspectives.
Responsibilities
• The normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
• The successful candidate may teach courses including Mass
Media & Society, Electronic Publishing, Context of Broadcasting,
some production courses and will advise student radio and
television.
• Advise and mentor students
• Serve on departmental & institutional committees.
• Engage in scholarship and community service
Qualifications
• Ph.D. strongly preferred and will be required at the time of
tenure; ABD candidates will be considered.
• College teaching experience is preferred.
• Strong commitment to teaching excellence, professional
development and scholarly research.

of and commitment to the integration of faith and learning in
the academic discipline.
Departmental Information
The Communication Arts Department offers five concentrations of
courses: Media Communication,
Journalism, Public Relations, Theater, and Communication
Studies. The department has 7 full-time faculty members
committed to collegial and innovative pursuits of teaching,
service and scholarship and more than100 student majors. The
department also supports and supervises a student-operated
campus radio station, a student-staffed weekly newspaper, an
annual student film contest, a vibrant theatre program and
forensics and debate.
Malone College
Malone College is a Christian college for the arts, sciences and
professions, in the liberal arts tradition. The College is
affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church – Eastern Region.
The students, faculty and staff represent more than 35
denominations. Total enrollment is approximately 2,300 students
with 1,700 undergraduates as well as adult degree-completion
programs and a graduate school offering 4 master’s degrees.

National Ministries
is currently seeking a
qualified candidate to serve as Communications Associate.
This is a full-time position and is open immediately. This
position reports to the associate executive director for
communications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities The
Communications Associate is part of the team responsible for the
implementation of the overall communications strategy for the
organization. The Communications Associate has key
responsibilities for research, writing and editing various
communications (including, but not limited to, mission stories,
press releases, newsletters and articles). The Communications
Associate is focused on advancing the National Ministries core
message, ministry purpose and strategic ministry goals to
various constituencies and partners. The Communications
Associate manages the completion of various communications
projects and ensures their accurate and timely completion. The
Communications Associate contributes to the creation of media
tools – such as newsletters, brochures, video productions,
PowerPoint presentations, and Web site content – that
communicate and promote the strategic mission and purpose of
National Ministries. The Communications Associate is responsible
for identifying, nurturing and overseeing the work done by
volunteer and freelance writers. The Communications Associate,
working in a highly creative team environment, supports the
overall communication needs of a multicultural and diverse
organization. As such, the successful candidate will bring
breadth and depth of communications expertise in various media.
This position requires occasional travel to key conferences and
meetings. Other duties, as assigned.
Competencies and Skills Required The
successful candidate will be a self-motivated, visionary thinker
who is willing to work hard in a team context. The successful
candidate will be proactive and creative with excellent writing
and editorial skills, as well as exemplary communication skills.
Strong interpersonal communications skills required. Proven
competency in conceiving and preparing online content is
required. Excellent organization skills and the ability to
prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines are
crucial. The ability to build and cultivate relationships within
a multicultural and diverse context is essential.
Education and Experience The successful
candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in either English,
communications, journalism, public relations or other such
related field of study and practice or have equivalent
experience. Experience in a multicultural context required.
Experience in a faith-based or nonprofit organization preferred.
A minimum of 2 years experience in a professional communications
environment with specific accountabilities for writing and
editing is required.

Calvin College

Open Rank, Two Two-Year Term Positions. One in Media/Film Studies and one in
Media Production
Subject to administrative approval, the Communication Arts and Sciences
Department of Calvin College is looking for two two-year term faculty members.
One is in Media/Film Studies and one is in Media Production starting August,
2008. Rank is open. The successful candidates will be able to teach from the
following courses: For Media/Film Studies: introduction to film, media ethics,
history of media, media theory, media criticism, American film, and world
cinema. For Media Production: introduction to media production, advanced media
production, multi-camera production. In addition, the faculty members will
teach other courses compatible with their specialty areas and departmental
needs.
Calvin is on a two-semester academic calendar, with a January interim term.
The standard teaching load is 21-24 semester hours annually. Faculty members
typically teach three courses during the fall and spring semesters, and one
course during the January interim term. With a faculty of 19, we are large
enough so that teaching assignments usually cover a reasonable range of
courses.
We look for people who have a sense of humor, who relish the opportunity to
teach at a strong Christian liberal arts college that encourages and supports
scholarly and creative enterprise, and are good enough to make a strong

College of Arts and Sciences, Eastern University,

Studies with a specialization in either interpersonal or

The Department of Communication
Studies consists of four full-time, tenure-track faculty
members. We are seeking an individual to join us who has
the disposition of a generalist and a collegial spirit
as together we serve approximately 60 majors. The
Department currently offers concentrations in Relational
Communication, Organizational Communication, Mass Media,
and Theory/Rhetoric.
