de Valera Rises and Leaves in Protest of the Treaty Ratification

Audio mp3 of Address delivered by Alan Rickman

de Valera: There is one thing I want to say. I want it to go to the country and to the world. And it is this: The Irish people established the Republic. It can only be disestablished by the Irish people. As a protest against the ratification of this treaty, which can only subvert the Republic, I and my deputies are going to leave this house.

 Collins: Dev?! Traitors! Traitors, all!
