[AUTHENTICITY CERTIFIED: Text version below transcribed directly from audio] Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, here. Welcome to our new weekly situation report, or as we say in the military, "SITREP." The purpose of this is to be the most transparent DoD in American history for our war fighters and the American people. It was an action-packed America first week at the Department of Defense. The President nominated Lieutenant General Dan "Raisin'" Cain as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Senate confirmed Army veteran and accomplished attorney Dan Driscoll as the Secretary of the Army -- super psyched about that, and we are very much looking forward to having them both on the team here at the Pentagon. Secretary [Pete] Hegseth visited Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he served as a 2nd lieutenant in 2004. He visited our war fighters and inspected the detention facilities where criminal illegal aliens are being held as they await swift deportation. The UK pledged to increase their defense spending, which was a direct response to Secretary Hegseth's push for European NATO leadership just two weeks ago. This, despite a legacy media narrative that the Secretary's NATO trip remarks needed to be walked back or would somehow backfire. As usual, the legacy media was wrong. Our public affairs shop directed all diversity, equity, and inclusion [DEI] content to be removed from websites and social media DoD-wide. At the Pentagon, we reject the divisive and discriminatory notion that diversity is our strength. It's not. Our shared unity and purpose are our strengths. Under President Trump and Secretary Hagseth's leadership, DEI is dead at the DoD.1 And finally, at President Trump's first cabinet meeting, Secretary Hegseth promised the American people the overdue accountability that they deserve for the Biden Administration's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Folks, that is all we have for you today. Thank you for watching. God bless you all. God bless America and God bless our troops. See you next time. 1 Tactically deployed, dual-use line constituted by the figures of alliteration and close-to-target sententia (not quite a maxim or aphorism per se but offered in that rhetorical spirit).
